Emile YX?

Emile Jansen aka Emile YX? is a B-boy,  Artist,  Activist, Playwright, Author, Teacher & multiple award winning South African Hip Hop Elder since (1982). He won the National Order of Ikhamanga from the South African President in 2024, South African Hip Hop Wall of Fame & National LeadSA Award, eTV South African Hero Award & Mandela Monday Award. He is one of the founding members of Black Noise Hip Hop Group (1988) and created Heal The Hood Project (1998). He created South Africa’s 1st Hip Hop Magazine called Da Juice. He also won 3rd place at the World Breakdance Champs, Battle Of The Year in (1997). He has since assisted Heal The Hood Project to raise funds to send more than 250 young artists to travel to international Hip Hop events. He has recorded and released 27 albums, (14 solo, & 13 with Black Noise). He wrote and contributed to 37 books like Neva Again, Reconnect The String, Rhymes & Reasons Series and Children’s Books. He has created and performed 5 plays, like the award winning play, Afrikaaps. Emile has also shared the stage with numerous local & international iconic artists. His pride is the ongoing work being done in Cape Town, South Africa in 15 schools through Heal The Hood Project 
Heal The Hood Project (HTH) 
Was founded in 1998 and gained official NPO recognition in 2008. In 2010 we won the Best Hip Hop Organization from Words, Beats & Life. HTH uses experiential learning passed on from elders to future generations. Lessons learned by its founder Emile Jansen, was passed on to Tanswell who passed it to his friend Shaquile and they passed it onto the next generation through workshops, then Mixed Mense Hip Hop School. The school even took on community activism by protesting and winning the case against the local government trying to build a mall alongside a waterway at Princess Vlei. Mixed Mense Hip Hop School Graduate, Charlton Eftha has since passed on what he learned as a facilitator bringing David into the facilitation role.David is an artist using social media and video editing to share with a new generation to pass on lessons learned. Another alternative opportunity supplied by Heal The Hood Project is Golf lessons hosted by Thurlo, who also won the Mandela Monday Award.
