Asuka is a distinguished musician and one of the most accomplished young artists in Japanese traditional music. She graduated at the top of her class from Tokyo University of the Arts, Japan’s premier institution for traditional music studies. Renowned for her mastery of both classical koto performance techniques and innovative, contemporary styles, she represents a rare and exceptional blend of tradition and modernity in her craft. Since launching her career in 2013, Asukahas performed on prestigious international stages, including a concert at the Armenian Embassy in Armenia, a special performance dedicated to the Princess of Thailand, and a Japanese-German collaborative concert series in Germany and Austria. Her artistry has also graced numerous national events in Japan, where she continues to be a sought-after performer.
In addition to her solo performances, Asuka frequently collaborates with prominent artists from diverse creative fields. She has worked alongside musicians such as Jazztronik (Japan), Monday Michiru (United States), Queen Bee (Japan), and Lew Tabackin (United States), as well as the Norwegian dance group Quick Style. Beyond the music world, her talent and artistry extend to fashion and cultural events. She has performed at high-profile gatherings such as Paris Fashion Week runway shows, the Tokyo Rainbow Pride and International Pride celebrations, the LVMH convention party, and the Formula 1 Japanese Grand Prix, showcasing her ability to connect with audiences across disciplines and global platforms. Since 2016, Asuka has also been part of the creative duo DokiDo, performing both domestically and internationally.
